Priorities & Issues

Public Education:

Having experienced public education personally and as a parent, I am convinced of the need for ongoing improvements in our public schools to ensure every student's success. Public education is crucial in shaping our future communities and national identity. We must prioritize providing adequate resources, support, and innovative strategies to create an excellent and equitable learning environment for every child.

Women's Rights/Reproductive Rights:

As a progressive Democrat, I am committed to championing women's rights and addressing critical issues they face, including reproductive freedom. Women must have autonomy over their bodies and access to comprehensive reproductive health services. We must also confront sexism and gender discrimination that impede women's professional and personal advancement. Ensuring access to affordable, quality childcare and addressing disparities in pay, career opportunities, and gender-based violence are vital. I pledge to work tirelessly to dismantle systemic barriers and ensure women can achieve success on an equal footing.

Gun Safety:

My commitment to enhancing neighborhood safety involves fostering trust and cooperation between families, communities, and first responders. Providing law enforcement with necessary resources, including mental health support, advanced tools, and comprehensive training, is essential for effective crime prevention. My experiences have highlighted the tragic impacts of gun violence, particularly on vulnerable and young individuals, reinforcing my dedication to prioritizing safety measures.

Healthcare:

As a physician, I recognize that overcoming healthcare access barriers requires more than just medication and surgery. Daily patient interactions reveal the significant healthcare challenges and needs within our communities. Affordable healthcare access is a fundamental right that ensures everyone can care for their loved ones and themselves. Addressing healthcare accessibility is imperative for the overall well-being of all individuals, regardless of their situation.

About Dr. Sadia Ali

I am inspired by my family's journey to the United States, where they faced and overcame many challenges, including discrimination. Their perseverance and success in raising a family instilled in me values such as hard work, persistence, and a commitment to equal opportunity. These values deeply influence my own beliefs and I strive to pass them on to my children.

I benefited from a solid education in a public school system that supported both my intellectual growth and my passion for learning. This education enabled me to complete my studies at a university where I engaged in various activities that broadened my perspective and honed my leadership skills. My participation in community service organizations, including volunteer work at a local women's shelter, significantly shaped my understanding of societal challenges.

After graduating, I moved to NYC to pursue my medical education. I later specialized as a Foot and Ankle Surgeon with a focus on trauma, reconstructive surgery, and wound care. In my final year, I was recognized for my teaching efforts.

Since 2013, I have been in private practice. My personal time is spent traveling, hiking, and spending time with my husband and 2 daughters.

As a physician committed to helping others, I understand the importance of ensuring that every individual knows they have a voice and deserves to be heard.
